Ingredients

  • 3 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 c. sugar, divided
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. margarine

Method

  • Arrange apple slices evenly in pastry shell.
  • Combine cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar.
  • Stir well, and sprinkle mixture over apples. Combine flour and remaining sugar, stir well.
  • Cut margarine into flour mixture with a pastry blender (I use my fingers, works well) until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • Sprinkle over apples.
  • Bake at 400° for 40 to 50 minutes.
  • Yields one 9-inch pie.
