Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter soft
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups flour sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups apples peeled and chopped, fresh peaches, plums, cherries or berries may also be used
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup bisquick or pancake m
  • 1 cup sugar

Method

  • Cream butter, sugar, eggs, sour cream and vanilla in large mixing bowl.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
  • Stir flour mixture into butter mixture and blend until smooth.
  • Combine apples, cinnamon and sugar in small bowl.
  • Spread half of the batter into lightly greased 9 inch square pan.
  • Top with apple mixture.
  • Spread remaining cake batter on top of apples.
  • In a small bowl, blend butter, flours and sugar to make crumbs with pastry blender or large fork. Mixture should be crumbly.
  • Top cake with crumbs. Lightly dust crumbs with cinnamon.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until cake tests done with toothpick.
