Ingredients
- 8 (1-inch) thick slices Italian bread
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 5 Tbsp. margarine
- 2 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- The day before, cook apples with oleo and cinnamon.
- Add brown sugar and corn syrup.
- Pour into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Arrange bread on top.
- Beat eggs, milk and vanilla.
- Pour over bread.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
- Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
- Invert serving onto plate.
