Ingredients

  • 8 (1-inch) thick slices Italian bread
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 5 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • The day before, cook apples with oleo and cinnamon.
  • Add brown sugar and corn syrup.
  • Pour into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Arrange bread on top.
  • Beat eggs, milk and vanilla.
  • Pour over bread.
  • Refrigerate overnight.
  • Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
  • Cool in pan for 5 minutes.
  • Invert serving onto plate.
