Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 5 c. flour
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Combine flour, soda, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- Cut in shortening until size of peas. Add buttermilk and then yeast mixture.
- Stir until flour is dampened.
- Knead on floured surface.
- Roll out and cut into biscuits.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 400° oven.
