Ingredients
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Method
- Combine flour, soda and sugar; cut in shortening.
- Add yeast mixture and buttermilk; mix with hands until dough is formed.
- May be made into biscuits immediately or kept in refrigerator as long as two weeks (if air is worked out everyday), then make into biscuits as needed.
- Bake fifteen minutes at 375°.
- Makes 3 to 4 dozen biscuits.
