Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round ground beef
  • 2 c. sliced onions
  • 1 1/2 c. sliced celery
  • 1 can bean sprouts
  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained (optional)
  • 1 can pineapple chunks
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic salt
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1/8 tsp. ginger
  • cornstarch

Method

  • Cook onions and celery in a small amount of oil.
  • Add beef. Simmer until beef is nearly done.
  • Add seasonings, salt, pepper, garlic salt, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon molasses, oil from beef, celery, onions and 1/8 teaspoon ginger.
  • Add water from bean sprouts, chestnuts and pineapple chunks.
  • Thicken with cornstarch.
  • Add bean sprouts last.
  • Serve with Chinese noodles on cooked rice.
