Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Round Steak
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 cups Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil Or Shortening
  • 1/4 cups Vinegar
  • 1 whole Onion, Sliced

Method

  • Combine salt, pepper and flour and pound into steak.
  • Brown steak quickly in hot oil or shortening.
  • Add the vinegar and turn the steak to coat.
  • I add more vinegar as needed to be sure all the meat gets coated before the vinegar cooks dry.
  • Add the sliced onion and water to cover.
  • Reduce heat and simmer covered 6 8 hours or until tender.
  • Remove meat and thicken juice for gravy.
  • I make this in an electric skillet, but you could use a dutch oven on the stove top or oven.
  • Just be sure the water doesnt all boil away.
