Ingredients
- 7 lb. cucumbers
- 2 c. lime
- 1 c. salt
- 1/2 box mixed pickling spices
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 6 lb. sugar
- 1/2 c. alum
Method
- Cut cucumbers into thin slices.
- Wash and soak in lime water overnight.
- Wash well and soak in salt water four hours.
- Drain and soak in cold water two hours.
- Drain again and bring to a full rolling boil in alum water.
- Drain and rinse.
- Cook 30 minutes in vinegar, spices and sugar.
- Pack either hot or cold.
