Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. salad oil or chicken fat
- 5 egg yolks
- 3/4 c. cold water
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. egg whites
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
Method
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Mix oil, yolks, water and vanilla together.
- Add to dry mixture; beat with spoon until smooth.
- Put egg whites and cream of tartar in bowl. Beat until stiff.
- Pour 2 mixtures together gradually folding gently until blended.
- Bake in ungreased pan.
