Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. warm water (120~)
  • 1 Tbsp. canola oil, divided
  • 1/2 lb. onion, chopped
  • 1 (8 oz.) can low sodium tomato sauce
  • 1 small green pepper, cut into rings or chopped
  • 4 oz. shredded fat-free Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • In medium bowl, combine 3/4 cup of flour, yeast, sugar, salt, water and 2 teaspoons oil; mix with mixer on low until flour is just moistened.
  • Gradually stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  • Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.
  • Knead about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in greased bowl. Turn dough over to expose greased side; cover with towel.
  • Set in warm place to rise about 45 minutes or until doubled.
