Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. butter or margarine, soft
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 c. rolled oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked

Method

  • Beat butter until creamy. Beat in sugar gradually. Blend in egg, water and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to creamed mixture, blending well. Stir in oats.
  • For easier handling, chill dough about 1 hour. Roll out on floured board to 1/8-inch thick. Cut with heart shaped cutter.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350° oven about 12 minutes or until golden brown. When cool, frost with powdered sugar frosting tinted pink and leave some white.
  • May mix a little butter in with the frosting mix.
