Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. soft oleo
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Method

  • Combine caramels and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in double boiler, over hot water and stir until melted.
  • Can be done in microwave in dish.
  • Combine cake mix, remaining milk and oleo. Blend until mixture holds together.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Press 1/2 of cake mixture in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake for 6 minutes at 350°.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  • Pour melted caramels evenly on top.
  • Crumble remaining mix over caramels and bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Cool, cut in bars.
