Ingredients
- 3 large chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 12 cup shortening
- 2 cups flour (more if needed)
- salt and pepper
- chicken broth, from breasts
Method
- Boil breasts in water until tender.
- Remove, pick meat from bones and save broth.
- In large bowl, cut the shortening into the flour.
- Add buttermilk.
- Mix until like biscuit dough consistency.
- Roll out with floured pin.
- Bring broth to boil and drop in dumplings, one at a time and cook until done, 15 minutes.
- May add chicken meat back to broth at any time.
