Ingredients

  • 3 large chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 12 cup shortening
  • 2 cups flour (more if needed)
  • salt and pepper
  • chicken broth, from breasts

Method

  • Boil breasts in water until tender.
  • Remove, pick meat from bones and save broth.
  • In large bowl, cut the shortening into the flour.
  • Add buttermilk.
  • Mix until like biscuit dough consistency.
  • Roll out with floured pin.
  • Bring broth to boil and drop in dumplings, one at a time and cook until done, 15 minutes.
  • May add chicken meat back to broth at any time.
