Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. dark corn syrup
  • 1/3 c. light cream
  • 1/4 c. corn oil margarine
  • 1/3 c. coarsely chopped nuts
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Grease an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  • In heavy 3-quart saucepan, stir together sugar, corn syrup and cream.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until temperature on candy thermometer reaches 260° or until small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water forms a ball which is hard enough to hold its shape, yet elastic.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in nuts and vanilla. Continue stirring 2 minutes.
  • Turn into prepared pan.
  • Cool slightly.
