Ingredients
- 7 lb. cucumbers, sliced
- 2 c. lime
- 2 oz. alum
- 10 c. vinegar
- 12 c. sugar
- spices to taste
Method
- Soak cucumbers in 2 gallons of lime water for 24 hours.
- Drain and rinse.
- Soak for 24 hours in 1 gallon alum water.
- Drain and wash twice in water.
- Combine vinegar, sugar and spices.
- Pour over cucumbers; let stand 3 hours.
- Place over low heat for 1 hour; do not boil.
- Pack in jars, cover with vinegar liquid and seal.
