Ingredients

  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • In large bowl, sift sugar, flour, soda and salt; set aside. Melt the margarine, water and cocoa in saucepan and bring to rolling boil; set aside a few minutes.
  • In small bowl, beat eggs lightly; add buttermilk and vanilla.
  • Beat into bowl of flour, sugar mixture; beat in hot cocoa mixture.
  • Turn into floured and greased large cookie sheet with sides (17 x 12-inch pan).
  • Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Frost while warm.
