Ingredients

  • 1 envelope plain gelatin
  • 1/4 c. cold water
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 sticks celery
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • bread

Method

  • Dissolve 1 envelope of gelatin in 1/4 cup of cold water.
  • Put in dish and set in hot water until melted.
  • Grate carrots, celery, cucumbers, onion and green pepper.
  • Drain and mix with gelatin. Add mayonnaise, lemon juice and salt to taste.
  • Let stand 2 or 3 hours.
  • Spread a thin layer between 2 slices of bread.
  • Cut off crusts and cut in 4 pieces.
