Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. sliced white onion
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 1/4 c. catsup
  • 1 c. vegetable oil

Method

  • Put lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, salt, pepper, onion, celery seed, turmeric and garlic in pan.
  • Bring to a boil. Turn down and simmer 2 minutes.
  • Cool and add remaining ingredients.
  • Cover and refrigerate.
  • Serve on a crisp salad.
  • It is too heavy a sauce for Boston lettuce.
  • Good on thinly sliced cabbage with red and green peppers also thinly sliced.
