Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round or chuck (1-inch thick)
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans (2 c.) tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Method

  • Combine flour, salt and pepper.
  • Coat meat with mixture. Brown meat slowly on both sides in hot oil.
  • Combine next 5 ingredients and pour over meat.
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Add onions.
  • Put into casserole dish.
  • Cover and bake at 350° for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until fork-tender.
  • Serves 6.
