Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. spareribs (barbecue style or have butcher cut ribs into 2 to 3 sections)
  • 2 Tbsp. oyster sauce
  • 1/3 c. white vinegar
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar

Method

  • Place ribs in a large pot and boil until all scum boils out. Drain and wash thoroughly.
  • Place the ribs into a large pot with 2 to 3 chopped cloves garlic.
  • Pour soy sauce, white vinegar and brown sugar over ribs with about 1 cup of hot water to avoid burning the ribs.
  • Lower to low heat and let simmer.
  • Add oyster sauce; stir occasionally to season in sauce and prevent burning. Add more water if necessary.
  • Ribs are done when meat falls off bones.
