Ingredients
- 2 c. cornmeal
- 1 c. flour (self-rising)
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- cracklins (optional)
Method
- Mix. Pour into greased iron skillet.
- Bake at 450° for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Test middle by piercing with butter knife.
- If knife comes up clean, the corn bread is done.
