Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour + 2 tbsp
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar + extra, to dust
  • 1/2 cup butter, chilled, chopped + 3 tbsp melted
  • 1 None egg yolk + 2 whole eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup pecans, toasted

Method

  • Lightly grease an 8 1/2 inch tart pan. Sift 1/2 cup flour and powdered sugar into a large bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup chilled, chopped butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add egg yolk and mix until dough comes together. Knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth then wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 mins.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out dough then use to line prepared pan. Trim edges and chill for 20 mins. Line with parchment paper, fill with pie weights and bake for 10 mins. Remove paper and weights and bake for another 5 mins. Let cool.
  • Meanwhile, reduce heat to 325°F. Combine 2 whole eggs, melted butter, remaining flour, maple syrup and pecans. Transfer to tart shell and bake for 25-30 mins, until set. Let cool then serve.
