Ingredients

  • 2 dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 7 to 7 1/2 c. Gold Medal flour
  • 1/2 c. melted shortening (part butter)
  • 3 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 c. sifted powdered sugar

Method

  • Mix all dry ingredients, including yeast, but use only 1/3 of the flour.
  • Mix all wet ingredients, including shortening, and heat to hot-warm.
  • Combine and mix with mixer for two minutes. Add eggs and more flour to thicken.
  • Mix a couple of minutes. Add rest of flour.
