Ingredients

  • 5 lb. potatoes (10 large or 20 small), peeled and washed
  • 5 thick bacon slices, cut into small strips
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 2 lb. chopped meat
  • 1 big onion, diced
  • 4 Tbsp. margarine
  • 6 c. flour
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 2 Tbsp. salt

Method

  • Cook onions and bacon with margarine until clear.
  • Brown meat and drain.
  • Mix onions, bacon, meat and spices (set aside).
  • Grate potatoes at medium speed in blender.
  • Add 2 tablespoons salt to grated potatoes.
  • Start boiling salt water in 2 large pots.
  • Add flour and oatmeal to potatoes.
  • Make round balls of potato mixture, place and seal 1 tablespoon of meat mixture in center. Plop into water filled wooden spoons.
  • Cook on medium-high 1 hour after last dumpling has been added.
