Ingredients

  • 1 slice whole wheat bread, crumbled
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) margarine
  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 egg

Method

  • Combine bread, salt, paprika, pepper and milk.
  • Let stand 10 minutes.
  • Mix in chuck and egg.
  • Shape into patties.
  • Melt margarine in skillet. Fry patties 4 to 5 minutes on each side at medium heat.
  • Remove from pan and place in a covered dish in a warm oven.
  • Saute onions in margarine and drippings remaining in skillet.
  • When onions are tender, sprinkle with flour.
  • Stir in milk and cook until mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
  • Spoon over meat.
