Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. pulverized baking ammonia or 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar and 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Method

  • Beat the butter for 30 seconds.
  • Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  • Combine flour and baking ammonia or cream of tartar and soda.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.
  • Shape the dough into 3/4-inch balls.
  • Place the balls on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Using your fingers, press lightly in centers of the cookies.
  • Bake in a 375° oven for 7 to 9 minutes or until done.
  • Open oven door carefully to avoid fumes if you use baking ammonia.
  • Makes 80 to 90 cookies.
