Ingredients
- 12 cups chopped cabbage (about 2 medium cabbages)
- 3 medium onions, coarsely chopped
- 3 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup tomato juice
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- Onion rings (optional)
Method
- Combine cabbage, onion, and tomato in a large mixing bowl. Set aside.
- Combine sugar, tomato juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper; mix well. Pour over cabbage mixture; toss. Cover and chill.
- Garnish with onion rings before serving, if desired.
