Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 cup butter
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Method

  • Preheat oven to 400*.
  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Kneed a little then roll out 1/4" thick.
  • Drop in sugar.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  • ORIGINAL: 2 1/4 c flour (in lieu of both flours and shortening (in lieu of the butter), sugar (in lieu of the raw sugar) and 1 t vanilla or 1/2 t nutmeg (in lieu of the lemon extract).
