Ingredients
- 6 small peppers or 4 large peppers, cut in half
- 1 can tomatoes, chopped
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 Tbsp. minced onion
- 1/3 c. uncooked rice
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
Method
- Mix meat, egg, onion, rice, 1/2 cup tomatoes, salt and pepper together.
- Wash, stem and seed peppers.
- Stuff peppers with meat and rice mixture.
- Put peppers, rest of tomatoes and 1/4 cup water in large skillet with tight lid.
- Cook slowly 45 minutes.
- Remove peppers to platter.
- Add sugar to tomatoes, turn up heat and cook until thick, stirring frequently.
- Spoon sauce over peppers and serve.
