Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 6 sweet peppers
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Cut off stem ends of peppers and remove seeds.
  • Boil pepper shells for about 5 minutes in lightly salted water and drain.
  • Mix ground beef with bread crumbs, chopped onion and tomatoes which have been drained (save the juice).
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Stuff peppers with the mixture, pour juice from tomatoes over peppers and bake in a moderate oven (about 350°) for 1 1/2 hours or until peppers are tender and the stuffing cooked through.
