Ingredients

  • 2 filet mignon steaks, approximately 1/2 lb. each
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 6 to 8 medium size mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 oz. half and half
  • thyme leaves
  • salt and pepper
  • margarine

Method

  • Saute onion in margarine in 8-inch skillet.
  • Remove from skillet with slotted spoon and set aside.
  • Sprinkle steaks with salt, pepper and thyme leaves and fry them in the margarine remaining from onions, add more margarine if needed.
  • When steaks are done as desired, remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Return onions to skillet and add mushrooms, saute mushrooms.
  • Add half and half to skillet with mushrooms and onions.
  • Heat sauce to boiling, stirring frequently.
  • Serve steaks, covered with mushroom sauce, along with Twice Baked Potatoes and Radishes and Peapods.
