Ingredients
- 2 qt. crabapples with stems
- 3 c. distilled white vingear
- 3 c. water
- 6 c. sugar
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. allspice
- 1 Tbsp. whole cloves
Method
- Wash and drain crabapples--do not peel.
- Pierce peel with a large sterilized needle to prevend bursting.
- Mix vinegar, water and sugar.
- Add spice bag.
- Boil until syrup coats spoon.
- Add crabapples, reheat slowly to avoid bursting the skin.
- Simmer until apples are tender.
- Pack in hot jars.
- Fill jars with boiling syrup, process 20 minutes in a boiling water bath.
