- 1/4 c. margarine
- 2 lb. beef stew meat, cubed
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp. garlic, minced
- 1 (16 oz.) can mixed vegetables, drained
- 1 tsp. thyme, dried
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1 (12 oz.) can beef broth
Method
- Melt margarine in skillet; brown beef. Add flour and mix well. Add onions, garlic, spices, sugar, water and broth.
- Place casserole dish in 350° oven. Cook 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender, adding mixed vegetables 15 minutes before completion. Remove whole bay leaf and serve.
