Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 eggs
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Line cupcake tins with paper baking cups.
- Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl.
- Add shortening and milk.
- Beat 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer.
- Scrape bowl and beaters.
- Add eggs and vanilla.
- Beat 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into cups, filling each 1/2 full.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Cool. Dust with powdered sugar or frost with favorite frosting.
