Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 5 fresh tomatoes, peeled and chopped, or 1 large can tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz.) can unsalted tomato paste
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. fennel seed
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dry spaghetti, cooked

Method

  • Brown ground beef in a large skillet; pour off fat.
  • Add remaining ingredients, except for spaghetti.
  • Cover and simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • If sauce appears too thick, add water.
  • Serve over spaghetti.
