Ingredients
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 3 c. sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 3 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. sour cream
- 2 tsp. almond extract
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 6 egg whites
Method
- Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
- Heat oven to 300°. Separate eggs while cold.
- Warm yolks and whites to room temperature.
- In large bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Sift flour 3 times.
- Mix baking soda into sour cream.
- Add flour and sour cream to butter mixture alternately.
- Add almond and vanilla extract.
- Beat egg whites until stiff.
- Fold into batter.
- Pour into pan and bake for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until cake tester comes out clean.
