Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 1/2 c. plain flour

Method

  • Cream sugar and butter well.
  • Stir in eggs and sour cream. Add the dry ingredients which have been sifted together and vanilla.
  • Mix well.
  • Chill several hours.
  • May be dropped or rolled and cut 1/4-inch thick.
  • Sprinkle with sugar or cinnamon sugar.
  • Top with nuts or raisins (optional).
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 350°.
  • Makes about 60 cookies.
