Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 cup molasses
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
- 4 tablespoons hot water
Method
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time.
- Dissolve baking soda in water; add to creamed mixture.
- Blend in molasses.
- Sift together flour and ginger; gradually add to creamed mixture.
- Blend in molasses.
- Sift together flour and ginger; gradually add to creamed mixture (do not over beat).
- Drop onto baking sheet 2" apart.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
