Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Method

  • In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients, except vanilla.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.
  • Continue cooking, without stirring, until candy thermometer reads 248 degrees or firm ball stage.
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
  • Pour into well-buttered 13x9 pan.
  • Cool completely.
  • Cut into 1x1-1/2 pieces.
  • After cutting, wrap each caramel in cellophane wrap or plastic wrap.
