Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Method
- In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients, except vanilla.
- Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.
- Continue cooking, without stirring, until candy thermometer reads 248 degrees or firm ball stage.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.
- Pour into well-buttered 13x9 pan.
- Cool completely.
- Cut into 1x1-1/2 pieces.
- After cutting, wrap each caramel in cellophane wrap or plastic wrap.
