Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk

Method

  • Combine cake mix, butter and milk.
  • Press 1/2 of this into a 9 x 13-inch cake pan (slightly greased).
  • Bake for 5 minutes at 350°.
  • Remove and sprinkle on nuts and chocolate chips.
  • Melt together caramels and evaporated milk.
  • Pour over the chocolate mixture.
  • Spread the rest of cake mix batter over the top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes at 350°.
  • Don't overbake.
  • Cool and refrigerate.
