Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (14 to 16 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 3/4 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Prepare cake mix according to instructions on box.
  • Pour half of mixture into greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
  • This is the crust. Bake 20 minutes at 350°.
  • Meanwhile, melt caramels with oleo and milk.
  • Pour over baked crust.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over caramel mixture.
  • Spread remaining batter over top.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350°.
  • Continue baking 10 minutes at 325°.
  • This freezes great.
