Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. margarine

Method

  • Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Cut the shortening into confectioners sugar as you do when cutting shortening into flour for pastry, then add flour mixture.
  • Blend thoroughly.
  • About halfway through the mixture (blend thoroughly), use your hands.
  • Chill until easy to handle, then roll out on lightly floured board to 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Cut into squares or diamonds.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet about an inch apart. Bake at 350° until a delicate brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
