Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 lbs round steak, tenderized
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 2-4 Tbsp oil
  • 2 small cans tomato sauce or 1 can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Worchestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 can water if using tomato sauce
  • flour

Method

  • Heat oil in pan.
  • Cut steak into serving size pieces and lightly flour.
  • Lightly brown meat in hot oil and remove from pan; place on paper towels to absorb oil.
  • Add onion, pepper, garlic and celery to pan; fry until clear stirring to prevent sticking. Add sugar, tomato sauce, water and seasonings.
  • Cook stirring constantly for about 5 minutes.
  • Put steak in single layer in 9x13 pan, pour sauce over meat.
  • Add additional water if sauce does not completely cover all meat.
  • Cover pan with foil.
  • Bake at 350° for about 1 hour.
  • Serve over rice.
