Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp. oil
- 1 1/2 lb. hamburger meat
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 large carrot, finely chopped
- 1 beef stock cube
- 1/2 tsp. mixed herbs
- seasoning to taste
- 2 sticks celery, finely chopped
- 2 green onions (shallots), chopped
- 1 1/2 lb. potatoes, cooked and drained
- 1 oz. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 egg
Method
- Heat oil in a large pan and saut meat, onions and carrot over a high heat until golden brown.
- Add crumbled stock cube, mixed herbs, seasoning, celery and green onions (shallots).
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Spoon into greased ovenproof casserole.
- Mash potatoes with butter and milk and spoon onto meat.
- Brush with lightly beaten egg and bake at 400° for 30 minutes.
- Serves 4 to 6.
