Ingredients

  • 1/2 head lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 c. minced celery
  • 1/2 c. minced green (or possibly red) pepper
  • 3/4 c. minced onion
  • 1 can liquid removed green peas, cooked but cool
  • 1 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c. bacon bits (or possibly real bacon)

Method

  • In large salad bowl arrange first 5 ingredients in layers.
  • Spread mayonnaise proportionately over peas.
  • Sprinkle with sugar, then the cheese.
  • Cover and chill 4 hrs or possibly overnight.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle with bacon bits.
  • Makes 6 servings.
