Ingredients

  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Method

  • Combine everything except flour, baking powder and soda. Heat until boiling and simmer 5 minutes; set aside to cool. Dissolve baking soda in 2 teaspoons hot water; pour into cooled mixture. Add flour and baking powder; stir until blended. Bake in greased 8 x 12 pan at 350° for 25 minutes. Ice with Penuche Icing.
