Ingredients
- 2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- nuts (if desired)
Method
- Combine sugar, cream of tartar, salt and hot water.
- Stir only until sugar is dissolved.
- Boil, without stirring, until syrup forms hard ball in cold water.
- Pour slowly over slightly beaten egg whites, beating constantly, until stiff enough to hold a swirl.
- Add vanilla and nuts.
- Drop by spoonfuls onto lightly greased pan.
