Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 2 cans mushrooms (small)
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 c. long grain and wild rice
  • 2 1/2 c. chicken broth
  • 1/2 c. almonds, sliced
  • 1 tsp. Accent
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. heavy cream
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Method

  • Cook and drain rice.
  • Cook and drain sausage.
  • Saute onions in sausage fat.
  • Drain fat and add sausage and mushrooms.
  • Mix flour and cream until smooth.
  • Add chicken broth and cook until thick; add remaining seasoning.
  • Mix everything together in casserole pan and bake 30 minutes at 350°.
  • Top with almonds.
  • Serves 6.
