Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. bacon fat
- 4 c. shredded cabbage
- 3 or 4 potatoes in 1/2 inch slices
- fresh ground pepper
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 to 1 lb. kielbasa, sliced in serving chunks or Italian sausage
Method
- Melt bacon fat in a large skillet.
- Add cabbage.
- Top with sliced potatoes.
- Lay sausage on top; sprinkle with pepper.
- Pour on boiling water.
- Cover tightly and simmer over lowest heat for 50 to 60 minutes.
- Add extra water if needed.
- Serve with brown bread. Serves 4.
