Ingredients
- 1 lb. sausage
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. nuts
- 1 tsp. each of cloves; cinnamon; nutmeg and allspice
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. flour
Method
- Cover the cup of raisins with boiling water and let set. Cream sugar and sausage together.
- Beat in eggs.
- Sift together all dry ingredients.
- Add sugar and sausage mixture alternately with dry ingredients to buttermilk.
- Drain raisins and add raisins and nuts to mixture.
- Pour into greased tube pan and bake 60 to 70 minutes at 350°.
- Top with caramel frosting.
